2023 Colour Forecast —Curated by The Initiative

Celebrities and Instagrammers are not the only trend influencers. Trade conflicts, the pandemic, geopolitical tensions, the shift in global economic power, demographic changes, rise of technology, and climate change all have an impact on what we do and why we do it.

Whilst we don’t have a crystal ball, there are some insights we can glean to help us understand design influences. By looking back, we can see the path forward and overlay it with the obvious — the world we live in.  When developing our 2023 Colour Forecast we undertake a specific methodology and consider —The Repetitive Cycle, Mega Drivers and Local Influences.

Understanding the dimensions of colour is a science in itself of which  includes discovering colour qualities and the emotional impact they create through various palettes. A brand’s role is to emotionally connect with its audience and colour often provides an instant connection.

At The Initiative we believe you need to know the rules to break them. In this context we are not driven by trends but rather a pulse and consciousness that enables us to push brand stories forward for our clients. When developing a brand story evolution for our client’s we draw on these forecasting insights to help ensure the brand messages we create are always relevant.

I hope you enjoy this colour journey. My apologies in advance — now your frontal lobe has been activated you will see these colours everywhere, feel free to share with me, I will be seeing them also.  This is an interactive document, simply click on the links for more detail.
